Capt. Jonathan Boyden acquired considerable wealth, and was highly esteemed by his townsmen, serving them as selectman for several years.

In the records of Groton, the marriage of Primus, Capt. Boyden's slave, to Margaret, mulatto, appears in the year 1741, both of Groton. (1)

Jonathan Boyden was the former husband of Lydia's cousin Elizabeth.
