Killed in swamp fight in King Phillips War -------------------- Born in England - possibly Dorchester around 1615. Second son of Thomas Marshall arrived in Boston, MA with his father. Believed by historians that he moved soon afterwards to Windsor, CT with the earliest settlers because he held valuable property in Palizado by 1637. He was actively engaged in military service during King Philip's War: a corporal in 1672, a quartermaster in 1673, an ensign in 1675 in Major Treat's army and then was "one of the five Connecticut captains who led the Colony's forces to the attack on Fort Narragansett, December 19, 1675 where he fell at the head of his troops."
