Carl August Ludwig Gleditsch (1759 - 1810) was born in Jena, Germany and came to Christiania (Oslo) in 1790 when he joined the Akershusiske Dragonregiment (1,2). Together with Karen Moser (1765 - 1826), a shoemakers daughter from Copenhagen, Carl August fathered 11 children with numerous descendants in Norway and Sweden.

1777 (18): Enlisted in the Gardehussar Regiment in Copenhagen

1787 (28): Marries Karen Moser in the German parish at Garnisons Sogn in Copenhagen

1790 (31): Promoted from frikorporal to fenrik a lá suite and transferred to the Akershusiske Dragonregiment in Christiania (Oslo)

1790 (31): Transferred to Hadelandske Kompani

1791 (32): Lives in Sandvika outside Christiania

1792 (33): Moves to Berntsberg under Sander farm by Maridalen lake north of Christiania

1795 (36): Promoted to korporal in Livkompaniet

1796 (37): Promoted to sekondløitnant karakter in Livkompaniet

1797 (38): Promoted to virksom sekondløitnant in Skedsmoske Kompani

1801 (42): Promoted to preimerløitnant in Lierske Kompani

1803 (44): Transferred to Skedsmoske Kompani

1804 (45): Transferred to Lierske Kompani

1808 (49): Transferred to Nannestadske Kompani

1809 (50): Granted retirement due to weak health with his salary as pension

1810 (51): Dies at Berntsberg, buried by the Akershus fortress wall 26th December
