The death of Mrs. Caroline- Oriental Hoskin, relict of the late William Fry Hoskin, at Fitzroy, at the age of 81 years, removes another pioneer. Mrs. Hoskin was a Miss Street, and as an infant arrived with her parents on board the barque Oriental on November 18, 1841, having been born at sea on August 3 in the South Atlantic. Both the Street family and the Hoskin family have been very closely identified with the settlement of North Taranaki, especially, the Bell Block district, from its earliest foundation. The late Mrs. Hoskin leaves eight sons and three daughters, viz., William Henry (Mangatoki), Jobn (Uruti), Arthur (Fitzroy), TRichard (Hunterville), Leonard (Auckland), Frederick (Okato), Alfred (Inglewood), Harold (New Plymouth), Mrs. H Pote, Mrs. J. Hamblyn, and Mrs. Hall (all of Fitzroy). She also leaves 55 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. ,
