Per Naoma Rice Canfield obituary (2004), Carroll Mayo Canfield [was] a former pitcher for the Sacramento Solons. The couple's first home was the 100-acre Canfield Dairy Farm in the Chico area. In 1942, the couple and their four children moved to Sacramento. For 10 years, he helped manufacture airplane parts at McClellan Field until health reasons forced his early retirement.
