"The New Hanover Lutheran church, Falkner Swamp, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, has the following record concerning the baptism of Catharina Alt:  Alt, Catharina  b. 9/29/1748 bap. 12/4/1748 parents Valentin Alt Catharina sponsors Catharina Krause  [The Pennsylvania German Society Proceedings Vol. 20  1909 pg. 200-1] 

After her father's death she became the ward of George Myer and Philip Zeegler along with her brothers Henry, Conrad, Valentine and Philip on November 28, 1759 [York County Pa Orphans Court records Book 1 pg. 129]. On May 1761 [York county Pa. Orphans court Book 1 pg. 175] the following instrument of apprenticeship was approved in Orphans Court: Came into Court George Myer and Philip Zeegler guardians of Katrina Alt a minor Orphan daughter of Valentine Alt late of York Township deceased aged twelve years the tenth day of October last and prayed that the said Katrina may be bound and Apprentice to Michael Laow of Manchester township Yeoman. It is considered by the court and the said Katrina Alt is hereby bound an apprentice to the said Micahel Laow until she shall be of the age of eighteen years. In consderation whereof the said Michael Laow doth covenant and agree to teach or cause to be taught the said apprentice to read the bible to knit sew and spin and to furnish and allow the said apprentice sufficient meat drink apparel washing and lodging during the said term and at the expiration thereof to pay unto her one New spinning wheel, one milch cow, and two suits of apparel one whereof shall be new and of the value of five pounds in money which the said apprentice shall then chose and three pounds in money.
