About Cecily More
Cecily More was the daughter of Sir Thomas More (1478-1535) and Jane Colte (1488-1511). She is best known for having been given an unusually fine education and for her presence in various More family portraits. Her father is the subject of numerous biographies, most of which say little about his daughters beyond praising their scholarship. Cecily married Giles Heron, the son of Sir John Heron of Hackney and his second wife Margaret Rees, on 29 September 1525. Giles was hung, drawn and quartered at Tyburn, London, on a trumped-up charge of treason, on 4 August 1540. Giles and Cecily had three children: Thomas, John, and Anne [Source: "The Family and Descendants of St. Thomas More". By Martin Wood. Published in the UK by 'Gracewing'. April 2008.]
