Obituary

DEADWOOD - C. Sally Jemming Johnson, 84, Deadwood died January 1, 2010 at her home in Deadwood. Celestine Elizabeth "Sally" Weins was born February 12, 1925 at Ethan. She grew up in the Ethan-Mitchell area. She attended schools in Ethan. She married Elmer Jemming in 1942 and they made their home and farmed in the Ethan-Mitchell area. They moved to Lead in 1958. She married Robert Johnson in 1990. Sally worked many years for F. L. Thorpe. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, canning and sewing. Sally is survived by her sons, Jerry Jemming, Denver, Colo.; Donnie (Teresa) Jemming, Woonsocket; daughters, Lorraine (Joe) Sterna, Newell; Mary Kay (Gary) Wilcoxon, Brighton, Colo., and Susan (Jack) Sterna, Woonsocket; one brother, Ed Weins, Mitchell; three sisters, Alberta Baldwin, Mitchell; Adela Graff, Rockton, Ill, and Loretta Wermers, Spearfish; eleven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, son, James Jemming, two grandsons, Jime Joe Jemming and Paul Hudson; one sister, Caroline Hohn and one brother, Alois Weins. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Lead-Deadwood Funeral Chapel in Lead with Rev. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery. A luncheon will follow burial at the VFW in Deadwood. A memorial has been established. The Aldinger Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
