About Charles Ion Carr Bosanquet
Charles Ion Carr Bosanquet (19 April 1903 - 1986) was the first Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University.
Born the son of Robert Carr Bosanquet, Bosanquet became Rector of King's College, Newcastle in 1952 and then became the first Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University in 1963. In that role he welcomed Martin Luther King, Jr. to the University and presented him with a Doctor of Civil Law degree.
In 1931 he married Barbara Schiefflin, an American.
He lived at Rock Moor House near Alnwick and became High Sheriff of Northumberland.
