He was born and raise in Ripley, was a US Congressman and Republican whip of the House. Member of NY State assembly 1906-08, member of NY State Senate 1909-1912, US Rep. from NY's 43rd District 1913-1919. He d. in Miami Beach, Fl., buried at Quincy Rural Cemetery, Ripley, NY.
