minister. Charles succeeded his father as minister of Graaff Reinet with the latter’s retirement in 1866.

Ds. Charles Murray (Graaff-Reinet, 26 Februarie 1833 - Graaff-Reinet, 31 Oktober (volgens 'n ander bron 23 September[1]) 1904) was die vierde van ds. Andrew Murray sr. se vyf seuns wat predikant in die Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk geword het. Hy ontvang sy opleiding in godgeleerdheid aan die Universiteit van Utrecht. In 1858 word hy in die NG gemeente Clanwilliam bevestig, van waar hy in 1866 na NG gemeente Graaff-Reinet gaan om sy vader, wat daardie jaar afgetree het, te word. Saam het hulle die gemeente 82 jaar van 1822 tot 1904 gedien. Tydens die seun se dienstyd is die huidige kerkgebou, een van die grootste en sierlikste in die land en losweg gegrond op die Salisbury-katedraal, op 10 September 1887 ingewy. Murray was, volgens eerw. A. Dreyer[2], by uitnemendheid 'n warme sendingvriend en 'n tere kindervriend. Hy was 'n vrugbare skrywer wie se werk meesal in kerklike tydskrifte verskyn het. Sy lieflingsarbeid was die Sondagskool en in verband met die uitgawe van "De Kinderharp" en "Halleluja" het hy onvergeetlike werk gedoen. Sy seun Charles Daniel Murray was van 1899 tot 1943 'n NG predikant. Sy eerste gemeente was Petrusville tot 1905 en toe Bloemfontein tot 1912, waarna Parys en uiteindelik Pretoria van 1927 tot en met sy aftrede.
