About Christian David
Christian David (1692–1751), a carpenter, as a Catholic stimulated by secret Protestants and Jews, he studied the Bible and converted to Protestantism in Berlin in 1715. Awakened in 1717 under the influence of pastor Melchior Scheffer in Görlitz, he requested land from Nicolaus Luwdig von Zinzendorf for Moravian immigrants and built the first house at Herrnhut in 1722 (Bohemian and Moravian Brethren: II).
