Good Woman Passes--Large Crowd at Funeral.
Correspondence of The Robesonian.
Lumberton, R. 2, Feb. 22--Funeral services, attended by a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives were conducted this afternoon for Mrs. Chrisitain Locklear, who died Sunday at 3 p.m. at her home 6 miles north of Lumberton. Rev. W. G. Hunt conducted the services, assisted by her pastor, Rev. L. W. Jacobs. You will find the text 1st Corinthians 16:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Interment was made in the Locklear cemetery near deceased's home. Rev. F. A. Prevatte was present and made a short talk, referring to the sister being one of the first members of the Burnt Swamp Missionary Baptist association, 47 years ago, and his father, Rev. F. A. Prevatte, baptized her. She has been a member ever since that time for the Baptist church of Mt. Olive. She was always ready to do her part. The passing of this good woman is a great loss to our community. She leaves two sons, two daughters, one sister and two brothers. Deceased was about 82 years old. She had been in ill health for some time.
