Ralph Sprague's younger brother Edward remained at Upwey with his Mother Christian, who later married John Corben.

The original Will of Edward Sprague, probated Oct. 13, 1614, a few days after his death, requesting Ralph to "promise that his mother Christiana shall quietly enjoy the said living until he shall be one and twenty years of age," has been handed down, in fine preservation with writing distinct, to the present generation. The widow Christiana married John Corbin, of Upway.

4. Chamberlain, The Spragues, 21. Bartelot speculates further that Christian was a sister to John Holland of Tincleton. Since Edward Sprague III married John Holland’s daughter Elizabeth in Tincleton 31 Jan. 1651, this would lead to the awkward conclusion that Christian’s grandson married her niece.
