About Christopher Latham

The 1790 census showed there were 2 males and 2 females in the household other than Christoper Sr. and Jemima _____

The 1790 Census showed that Christopher Latham, Sr. had two sons over the age of 16 and two daughters in the household in addition to himself and Jemima or at least two males and two females. The nine children that I have listed were listed as Christopher & Jemima's children by professional genealogist, Mrs. Edna Rogers, in manuscript collections at the Connecticut State Historical Society, Hartfort, Conn. The Red Book states Orlando Bailey was assignee of share of Mary (Latham) Comstock; Russell Bailey assignee of the rest of the heirs. Nuncupative (an oral will declared or dictated by the testator in his last sickness before a sufficient number of witnesses , and afterwards reduced to writing) will of Christopher Latham (4) made before Amos Prentice, Charles Chester and Eunice Wood, leaving all to wife during her lifetime. Widow Jemima Latham, with Joseph Bailey, gave bond as Administratix, June 5, 1797. June 30, 1830, she gave quit claim deed to Orlando Bailey for part of land belonging to heirs of Christopher Latham (4) deceased. Final distribution of estate of Christopher Latham (4), after death of Widow, April 27, 1850. COMMENT BY DALE LATHAM: I believe that she died long before 1850, as she was over 90 years old on the 1830 census. I estimate that she died approximately 1837. It is unlikely that she lived to be 110 years old.
