After trying in vain to find any official records for Claudia Fabus I spoke to a worker at the National Archives of Aruba. It turned out that Claudia was a slave until slavery was abolished on July 1, 1863. Slaves did't have right to certificates for their records.
I did get a scan of the page of the book where Claudia was registered as a slave. Also her two brothers Jan Frederik Fabus and Bruno Fabus, as well as her mother Carolina, and her grandmother Sara were registered as slaves on this same page.
Several times over the years my mother mentioned that she was of indian descent. She remembered calling her grandmother "Duduchi" and that Duduchi didn't have a last name. My mother was only 10 years old when Claudia passed away so I'm sure some memories were lost through the years. I have the impression that my mother was not aware of the slave status of her Fabus ancestors.
Claudia Fabus appears on the marriage cerfificate of my grandparents as mother of the bride.
