Chlodoswinthe des Francs was born in 569.2 She was the daughter of Sigibertus I, rex Austrasii and Brunechildis the Visigoth.1,2 Chlodoswinthe des Francs and Authari filius clep, King of the Longobards were engaged before 588; The marriage was negotiated but Authari was passed over in favor of her marrying the Visigoth King, Reccared. Chlodoswinthe des Francs and Reccared I, King of Spain were engaged in 589; This was Chlodosinda's 2nd engagement. It also did not come to pass.3,2 Chlodoswinthe des Francs married Reccared I, King of Spain, son of Leovigild I, King of Spain and Theodosia of Cartagena, in 594; RGD says this marriage in fact occured, and the son, Swinthila, resulted.4
