David Espy was a colonel in the Revolutionary War. He was the owner of Espy House in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. General Arthur St. Clair used the house during the Revolutionary War, and President George Washington stayed there while using the house as his headquarters while putting down the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794.
