Richard's will is recorded in Washington County, MD, dated March 20, 1787 was probated February 26, 1788.
He and members of his family "made brilliant and distinguished records in the Revolutionary War" in which Richard was a Colonel. There is also a letter from Genl. George Washington regarding Capt. Richard Davis (Richard's son) who appears to have been a prisoner of war who set out for the "back country" once he was "paroled" -- which didn't seem to sit well with Genl. Washington.
