Daniel W. Holman was appointed Major of the 1st Tennessee Infantry, CSA on April 27, 1861 and served in the eastern theater of the war. He was not re-elected in the 1862 re-organization of the regiment but later became Colonel of the 11th Tennessee Cavalry and served in the western theater. After the war he moved to Fayetteville where he practiced law.
