Military: Served as Capt. and Col. of Co., F., 12th., Virginia Infantry, C.S.A. Commanded the Sharpshooters in Mahon's Brigade and command the regiment on several occasions including the battle of Chancellorsville. He was severely wounded in the hip at the battle of Spotsylvania, Virginia Court House in May of 1864 and did not return to action again.
