Crawley was the son of Malachi and Serena Bullard Locklear. He married Nancy Locklear
The following was taken from the May 13, 1940 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
A crowd estimated at more than 1,000 persons overflowed Old Prospect Indian school this morning for funeral services commemorating the life of Crawley Locklear, one of the most popular Indians of Robeson county, who died Saturday noon.
Locklear, about 70, a large-scale farmer of the Prospect section and known for years as a freind of political candidates as well as of the people of his community, succumbed at his home after 5 weeks illness since he fell off a wagon-load of hay.
Rev. Fuller Lowry was is charge of the funeral services, in which verbal tributes were paid to the life of the deceased. Burial was made in the Prospect cemetery. Revs. Arthur Maynor, Joe Sampson, Tommie Swett, Smith and Bullard assisted in the services. Deceased had been a steward of Prospect Methodist church for 30 years.
Deceased is survived by his widow, two sons and one daughter.
Pallbearers were J. R. Brooks, L. W. Moore, R. B. Bullard, C. H. Moore, Isaiah Locklear, Charley Carter.
