  • Born and died in Madrid. Descendant of the discoverer, Duke de la Vega and Marquis of Jamaica, was active in the Radical Party under the leadership of Ruiz Zorrilla, being first elected in 1871. The following year he was vice president of Congress, and in 1878 passed the Senate in its own right. In 1890, under the chairmanship of Sagasta, played the portfolio of Public Works, and in 1901 he was Minister of Marine with the President himself, in the last Cabinet regency remained so in the first term of Alfonso XIII.
