GBE (1925); born 27 Feb 1848; married; greatr actress, made her 1st appearance at Princess's, under Charles Kean; played first with Sir Henry Irving in the Taming of the Shrew, Queen's Theatre, Long Acre; joined Mr Bancroft at the Prince of Wales Theatre (1875); joined Mr John Hare at the Court in Lord Lytton's 'The House of Darnley' (1876); on 30 Dec 1878 made her 1st appearance at the Lyceum (as Ophelia); visited America with Sir Henry Irving, &c.
