Peter Badger asserts that Daniel might have been born to Mary Dodge Badger and Gideon Badger (b. 1723), son of Capt. Daniel Badger of Union, Connecticut (d. 1769), and his first wife Sarah Roath or Worth. Fairly recent assertion, from Oct. 2012 and Mar. 2010. Suggests DNA testing to determine descent from Giles Badger of Newbury. Several lines of speculation.
