About Daniel Gould

Daniel Gould was "tied to the wheel of a "great gun" (cannon), in 1659, at Boston, and given 30 severe lashes (or stripes) across his naked back, until the flesh began to fall from the bones." and "to drive the Devil out of his soul". He recovered, became a minister in the Society of Friends (Quakers), and died January 1716, at Newport, Rhode Island.
