Daniel Hugo(t), waarskynlik afkomstig uit Champagne, Frankryk, was reeds in 1688 aan die Kaap. In 1691 is die plaas Sion (Tans Nieuwe Hoop) by Simondium aan hom toegeken.
NB: In die Hugo stamlys is daar geen verskil gemaak tussen geboorte en doop datums nie en veral in latere generasies is baie doopdatums in werklikheid dus die geboortedatums.

Daniel HUGOT, gebore omstreeks 1664,van Serzy, Champagne, was 'n Franse Hugenoot wat reeds voorkom op 6 Aug 1689 in Stellenbosch se burgerrol. Vermoedelik het hy vroeg in 1688 met die Borssenburg in die Kaap aangekom. Hy was 'n smid en landbouer en het op die plaas 'Zion' in Drakenstein geboer sedert 1 Aug 1691, en later op Bethel, Paarl, en De Leeuwen Kuil, Mooreesburg (1714). Hy was 'n lid van die landdros en heemraad. Hy het getrou in 1705 met Anna ROUSSEAU d/v Pierre, en is ongeveer 1725 oorlede. Hy het 4 seuns en 5 dogters gehad.

"Daniel Hugot (Hugo) was born between 1663 and 1665 and was a blacksmioth by trade. In 1691 he received the darm Sion in Drakenstein and was a member of the Court of Landdrost and Heemraden. He is said to have been a very short man. Pierre Rosseau asked him to be godfather to his baby Anna. Ay the christening Daniel held her in his arms and said "This child will be my wife." Sure enough, he married her when she was barely fourteen and he was forty-five."
