21 Year old bachelor and farmer from the farm Driefontein, Heidelberg when married in Heidelberg on 24 JAN 1887 to Gertruida Cornelia Elizabeth KRAFT. She died in the Mafeking Concentration Camp on 28 SEP 1901 of typhus.

After the war he is from farm Rhenosterfontein, Groot Marico.

ANGLO-BOER WAR OF 1899-1902

He was a farmer from the farm Kosterfontein (later Rietfontein) when he joined the commando during the war. Surrendered in 1900, but took up arms again and fought to the end of the war. He submits a claim for compensation of 434 Pounds:15:0 for war losses suffered on 23 SEP 1902 (CJC 1103 no. 1168). The assessor reduces it to 265 Pounds and he is paid 47 Pounds: 14: 0 in the end.
