David C. Martin, Sr., 91, of East Moline and former long time Rock Island resident, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at Pathway Hospice at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Boys Town. Mr. Martin was born July 27, 1915 in Des Moines, IA, a son of John and Marjorie (Walker) Martin. He married Lillian F. Burns, June 28, 1943 in Muscatine, IA. David worked as a letter carrier for the Rock Island Post Office for 30 years. He retired in 1975. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, and in earlier years, St. Joseph Catholic Church, also of Rock Island. David loved his family and enjoyed sports and traveling. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Daniele and Charles Hughes, Garden Grove, CA; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Joy Martin, Huntington Beach, CA and David and Ruth Martin, Moline; grandchildren, Paul and Adam Martin, Sarah Martin Krueger, Sharon and Brian Hamrick, David Martin, Billy Hughes and Jennifer Hughes Hiscock; and great grandchildren, Joseph, Jordan and Broderick.
