David Nitschmann (1695–1772), the son of Georg Nitschmann (born 1662), an agriculturalist, was a carpenter; he emigrated to Herrnhut in 1724 and accompanied Nicolaus von Zinzendorf to Copenhagen in 1731. In 1732 he traveled with Johann Leonhard Dober to St. Thomas in the West Indies, the first missionary enterprise of the Moravians. In 1735 D.E.
