About Thomas Stevens

THOMAS STEVENS (cl640-1729) Thomas married Martha Bartlett on April 15, 1670. The Bartlett family was of Newbury; Martha was the daughter of Christopher Bartlett. Thomas Stevens was raised in Salisbury, but in October of 1669 he bought the house of Ezekial Wathan of Amesbury. History of North Brookfield states that Thomas served as selectman in Amesbury for seventeen years. Old Families... mentions him as being a schoolmaster in 1693. He is also described as "sawyer" and "husbandman", by way of occupation. Thomas and Martha had nine children; we are descended from the eldest, Roger. Martha Stevens died Septem¬ber 8, 1718. Thomas Stevens died April 14, 1729.
