Don Domingo B. Lopez served as the First Governor of Tayabas, Quezon and Marinduque from 1908 to 1910. He practiced law in Lucena. After being widowed, he married a prominent lawyer and suffragist who was 14 years his junior. When they married, she remained in Manila to continue her career, maintaining separate households, but spending time together as a couple alternately in Manila, Lucena and Tayabas. He was a political rival of Manuel Quezon, both having contested the governorship of Tayabas. Quezon called him "Bombay" and he called Quezon "Kastila."
