Dr DeWitt Stetten was born in 1834 and died in 1951.

Me was married twice: 1. Magdalen Ernst born 1886, in 1906 2. Alice Mayer Stein born 1887, in 1930.

He was a prominent surgeon in New York City, having received his MD from Columbia University in 1901.

Dr Stetten was the author of over one hundred surgical papers dealing with hernia, gall-bladder and abdominal diseases. He was active in the Red Cross Blood Program and President of the Board of Trustees of the Blood Transfusion Association of New York at the time of his death.

In 1929 he had been President of the New York County Medical Society.

At the time of his death, the President of Lenox Hill Alumni Association wrote, he gave unstintingly of his time and great talents in the training and guidance of countless of our members.
