Edward born in 1854 was sent to St Mark's School at Macquarie Fields and then to The King's School under George Fairfowl Macarthur, where he shone as Captain and Broughton Schloar, winning a scholarship to Trinity College, Oxford to study Medicine.
After a period at St Bartholomew's Hospital London gaining further medical degress he returned to Sydney in 1884 became Medical Superintendent at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital at Camperdown and then had a private practice in Macquarei Street and was an Honouary Physician at Sydney Hopsital.
He bought Lindesay in 1914. In 1926 he moved to a new house in Vaulcause and sold the house to Charles and Mary Pye. The Pye family held the house till 1963 when their son Walter Pye donated it to the still small but growing National Trust of New South Wales.
