About Ebenezer Crosby
Fifth child of Joseph, Ebenezer Crosby was born in Braintree in 1753. He took the degree of MD at Harvard in 1777 and served in the Revolution as Surgeon in the army. At the close of the war, he married Catharine Bedlow, eldest daughter of Capt William Bedlow of NY and niece of Colonel Henry Rutgers. He was appointed Professor of Midwifery in Columbia College in 1786. On No 11 1787 he sailed to St Vincents in the West Indies for his health, but returned only to die. He left the world July 16 1788.
