Living at 25 John Street, Bishopwearmouth, with one servant. Recorded as a Registered Dentist.

In the 1861 census Edward's wife is recorded as Ellen but the marriage record has her as Eleanor Gibbon in 1859 so I think that she was commonly called Ellen.

NOTICE is hereby given, that an Order of Discharge under the hand of Theophilus Bennet Hoskyns Abrahall, Esq., the Commissioner of Her Majesty's District Court of Bankruptcy, in the Royal - arcade, Newcastleupon-Tyne, and under the Seal of the Court, was, on the 28th" day of March, 1867, granted to Edward Gadalia Joel, of No. 49, Villiers-street, in the borough of Sunderland, in the county of Durham, Dentist, who was adjudged bankrupt under a Petition for adjudication of Bankruptcy, filed by him in the.said Court of Bankruptcy, on the 4th day of February, 1867, and that such Order of Discharge will be drawn up and delivered to the said bankrupt, unless an appeal be duly entered within thirty days.

Edward's middle name is interesting as Gedalia is a Jewish feast occuring around September/October, this may give us a clue as to when he was born. 1818/19 is too early for there to be a register of his birth but the may be a birth notice in a Newcastle newspaper.
