About Edward Gilman, IV (immigrant)

Surname has also been reported to be Gyllman and Gylman.

Edward was not an immigrant, integrating into an existing society, he was a "colonist" establishing an English colony on the American continent. Remember the AMERICAN COLONIES were English colonies, or Dutch colonies or French colonies, etc. that were established in the wilderness of the wild American continent. They brought to America their own culture and technology with them that had evolved over millennia in Europe. They colonized wild America with European people and methodologies. They were not immigrants integrating into another civilization. They colonized America with their own civilization.

An immigrant is someone how moves into, and adopts the culture and ways of an existing culture they travel to, whereas the English colonists brought with them their own culture, tools, and civilization to the wilderness of the New World.

They were colonists. Please amend his name to "Colonist" not "immigrant".
