About Edward Herndon, I

A Patriot of the American Revolution for VIRGINIA (Soldier). DAR Ancestor #: A054151 -------------------- Revolutionary War: He was a CPT in COL Francis Taylor's Regiment. He enlisted from Spotsylvania County. Records in the Defense (War) Department in Heitman's Historical Register of Officers of the Continental Army during the Revolution, p 900, and in History of Revolutionary Soldiers, Virginia State Library, p 215.

He was a Baptist and was arrested in 1771 for preaching the gospel without ordination from the Church of England (state church) or license from the General Court.
