About Edward Norris, Sr.

He migrated to Baltimore co. abt 1770. On 9 Nov. 1724 John Norris, of Anne Arundell co., Planter, & his wife, deed to his son Edward for the natural love & affection which I have and doe bare for my son Edward Norris, of b     Baltimore co". etc. 1116 acres of (243 acres) lands called "Prospect", formerly surveyed for Richard Preston. Edward Norris was appointed Cherch warden 5 July 1743 & 3 Apr. 1744. He purchased from Thomas Bond & Ann Fell land called "The End" on 3 Aug. 1743 for 25 pounds sterling. He dtd his will 5 Dec. 1761 & probated 21 Mar. 1763, Baltimore; after a life interest of wife, Hannah, he gives to his son, Joseph, part of a tract of land called "The End", all of that part which lies north of the high "Bridge Branch". All the remaining lands to sons, Edward, James, John, Thomas & Aquilla; he names all his children, executors wife, Hannah & Daniel Treadway; Hannah abides by his will.

"His boyhood days were spent in Anne Arundel co. near Annapolis, probably until abt 1720 when as a young man he removed to Harford, then Baltimore co. & settled upon the estate called 'Prospect' which his father, John Norris purchased 6 Nov. 1716 from Peter Bond & William Hamilton. On 9 Nov. 1724 "John Norris Sr. of Anne Arundel co. Planter' & his wife Mary, deeded to his son, Edward, possibly as a wedding gift for the natural love & affection which I have and doe bare for my son, Edward Norris of Balto. co." Etc. Part (116 acres) of tract (243 acres) of land called 'Prospect' formerly surveyed for Richard Preston. Thomas, Aquila & Susannah Norris are mentioned in Edward's will but no records of their births are found at St. John's Parish. Edward Norris was appointed chruch warden, 5 Jul. 1743 & 3 Apr 1774. The will of Edward Norris was made Dec 5, 1761 & proved in the orphan's Court of Baltimore, 23 March 1763. After a life interest to his wife Hannah he gives to his son Joseph, " part of a tract of land called 'The End', all of that part that lies north of the high bridge branch" He bequeaths all the remaining part of his lands to his sons. Personal bequests to daughters Susannah, Mary. Sarah Treadway, Hannah Fulton, & Elizabeth Taylor. Executors wife Hannah & Daniel Treadway. The land refered to in his will called 'the end' was purchased by Edward Norris, 3 Aug 1743, from Thomas Bond & Ann Fell for the sum of twenty-five lbs. sterling."
