Biography

Elijah Kidder5 (Job4, Joseph3, John2, James1) was the eldest child of Job Kidder and Molly. He was born about 1762 in Goffstown.

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War volunteering from Goffstown. On 7 Aug 1778 he served as a private in Capt James Aiken Company in Col Moses Keller's Regiment for 27 days including two days travel to Rhode Island from Goffstown, New Hampshire. He was number six in the Goffstown Bounty List (Page 258, Vol IV, NH Rev Rolls). He and his brother Noah, almost starved to death. After traveling many miles, they finally found a safe place to light a fire. They took "the shoes from their feet, roasted, and ate them, declaring it was the sweetest morsel they had ever tasted

He died in 1810 in Goffstown.

On 27 Nov 1783 he married Mary Sargent 1754 – 1849 daughter of Trueworthy Sargent 1729 – 1812 and Hopestill Weed 1732 –. Mary died 30 Mar 1849 in Grantham. They had eight children all born in Goffstown:
