Elizabeth used to tell stories to her children of when she was a little girl. One of those stories was that she was expected to awaken at 4:00 in the morning and milk the cows each day before going to school. At school, in Big Woods (Aurora), IL, the children would learn both German and English in their classrooms. Elizabeth and Carl were a middle class rural family living on a 15 acre farm. They enjoyed a garden of asparagus and other vegetables. Elizabeth was avery warm and caring person. Because she accepted all her children and their families with their new ideas, she was admired for her flexibility to change with the times. She was a devoted Catholic and also valued learning. She encouraged her children to acquire an education and to be steadfast in faith. Death dates for Elizabeth and Carl are unknow.
