Elizabeth UNDERWOOD, or "Widow Ingram" as she was popularly known, was Licensee and Proprietress of The Ship Inn, Prittlewell, Southend-on-Sea from 1770 to 1776. The licence was then passed on to her daughter Mary INGRAM who continued to run the establishment until 1790, when it was taken over by her brother William INGRAM (Jr). (From Ale House Recognisances 1769-1828 Rochford Hundred, Essex). 78
