John White of London addressed a letter to him 14 September 1646 at his house in Chipoaks. He was a Burgess for James City County, 1646-48. On 05 January 1652/3, Robert Sheppard of Lawne's Creek, Gentleman, deeded 1100 acres at the mouth of that creek to Lieutenant William Caufield. This land was confirmed to Captain William Canfill (Caufield) in a patent, 04 March 1656/7, which stated that the 1100 acres was part of a patent granted to William Spencer and afterwards in the tenure of Major Robert Sheppard and by him sold to Caufield. He died before 05 July 1654 when his widow Elizabeth asked Mr. Brewster to represent her in a transaction.

Hi Greg, Happy New Year!!!
I just finished inputting info on our line all the way through the Frank Kings. Since you have been doing this longer than me maybe you can answer this question. Since many of our distant grandparents are king, queens, etc., in Europe would there be an appropriate word for referring to us? I don't know but it seems like there s/b something which denotes we descend from such people even if they are 38th grandparents, etc.
I asked you once what benefits you derived from being a descendant of such people. I can partly answer that question for myself now. I am so much more interested in people when I find out I am one of their descendants. It gives me such a different perspective. I think I might be interested in affiliating with some groups such as you have in order to meet some other people who are also descended from some of the same people. Even distant kinship is kinship and I think it is a basis for many possibilities. Do you have any suggestions regarding some such groups which you might recommend? I would appreciate your advice.
Right now I am in a state of awe of all of this recent information. I need to talk to other people are interested in this. So many people could care less.
Hope to hear from yor soon. Cuz Jewell

Hi Jewell well I see you have been doing some research , I can find only two children for Major Robert Sheppard and Elizabeth Spencer and I have never seen any children from his first marriage to Pricilla and since Robert died and Elizabeth Married Thomas and thomas had agreed to take Elizabeth's Children Ann and John into his home and does not list any other children I would like to know the source of these other four children ?? As far as William Spencer nothing is known of his family in England as far as the records show we do know that he was on the Susan Constant with Christopher Newport in 1607 . there is a book you might want to buy "Adventures of purse and person Virginia 1607 - 1624/25 Cuz Greg
Hello fellow members!!
I'm looking for Warren cousins. Thomas Warren is my 9th great grandfather.
I'm new to your list. I'm researching Thomas Warren b: 1-30-1623 in Ripple Court, Kent, England; m: Elizabeth Spencer; d: Surry, VA. April 21, 1670. Here is what I have on his descendants:
How about a SPENCER cousin? I'm descended from Elizabeth SPENCER from her first marriage to Maj. Robt. SHEPPARD - here's my line:
Anne SHEPPARD m. Wm. NEWSOME John NEWSOME m. Sarah CRAWFORD Joel NEWSOME m. Rebecca DICKENSON Isaac NEWSOME m. Mary "Mollie" DORTCH John NEWSOME m. Martha "Patsy: ALFORD Millie NEWSOME m. John CHEVES James M. CHEVES m. Mary Jane GRIFFIN James Owen CHEVES m. Sara Emma WAGGONER Eula R. CHEVES m. Elbert WARREN Wm. WARREN m. Marguerite FAYARD Margaret "Peggy" WARREN m. C HALL (div)
The earliest WARREN ancestor I have is Jeremiah WARREN b. 1767, VA , but I don't know who his parents were. There were WARRENs in my grandmother's family bible records who have definitely been placed with the descendants of Thomas of Surry, but I think Jeremiah is from the Essex Co., VA descendants of John WARREN. I think the bible records could have been handed down via the NEWSOME family. Or, they could have come from Mary Jane GRIFFIN's Aunt Mary WISDOM m. Ezekiel WARREN. Then I could turn out to be desc. of Thomas...who knows????

I'm new to this list, so have no way of knowing what ground has been covered on my Spencer ancestor, so here goes:
I'm looking for any material on Elizabeth Spencer, wife of Major Robert Sheppard, c. 1650, Jamestown, VA. This couple had a daughter, Anne, b. 1650, who married William Newsom, 1669, Surry County, VA., after first being married to a Thomas Hart.
Particularly, is Elizabeth of the line of the Earl of Spencer (Princess Diana's line)?

If any of this has been duplicated, please delete! I have been researching this line due to the discrepancy over where our Alice Warren Marriot is linked backwards. So far, I have discovered that her mother was the daughter of William Powell due to various records. If you are interested, I have found the Warren Family Cemetery wherein her (Elizabeth Spencer Sheppard Warren) and other ancestors graves are located in Surry, VA. The information on the find a grave site and link are as follows:
