About Ellen Capitolia Stebbing (Freed)
Ellen Capitolia Freed was born in 1906 in Maryland to Emory C. and Catherine List Freed. In 1920 she married Arthur Hampshire and they had six children. After his death she married Elwynne Lincoln Stebbing.
Ellen C. Stebbing, 91, of 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, died early Friday morning, October 3 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Home.
Born May 22, 1906 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Emory C. and Catherine E. List Freed. She was the wife of Elwynne L. Stebbing to whom she was married for 39 years.
Ellen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hamstead, Maryland.
In addition to her husband, Ellen is survived by one son, Robert A. Hampshire of Baltimore; four step-sons, William E. Stebbing of Tempe, Arizona, Robert L. Stebbing of Ogden, Utah, Donald F. Stebbing of Baltimore and Richard E. Stebbing of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters Betty L. Arndt of New Oxford, Louis M. Dignan of Baltimore and Beverly J. Goodwin of Brunswick, Georgia; one step-daughter, Phyllis J. Garcia of Tempe, Arizona; 76 grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 6 at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery, 2901 Taylor Ave., Baltimore, Maryland with Everard F. Cox, M.D. officiating. There will be no viewing.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4117 Lower Bekleysville Rd., Hampstead, Maryland...
