About Elva Chantrill (Preator)

Elva has written several autobiographies and diaries but only in ink. I have tried to copy them with mixed success. She was born in her grandparents house in Cowley. Her early life was spent on her parents farm 5 miles north of Burlington, Wyoming. Her summers were spent on Carter Mountain north of Cody, Wyoming until she was six. During third grade her parents took her to Salt Lake City where she attended Washington Elementary School. Her senior year was spent in Murray, Utah where she graduated from Murray High School. After school she sorted beans and served as cook of a mining camp among other jobs. Her first fiancee was a Dickson who lived across the street from her Uncle Elmer Eyre in Cowley. Later she went to the Spanish American Mission where she met Claytor Chantrill in Laredo, Texas. After her mission among other choices she went to Ricks College where she served as a maid for an elderly woman and married Claytor. Eventually she graduated from San Jose State College and became a schoolteacher. After another mission to South Dakota, she and Claytor moved back to Burlington where she did genealogy extracting. After Claytor's death she started to become senile so was moved by her brother Arlan to the Beehive House in Cody where she lived for several years. She recently lived in the Bonnie Bluejacket Care Center near Basin, Wyoming where she died on March 13, 2014. She is greatly missed by all who know her here, but is gladly welcomed by friends and family who preceded her in death.
