MILT: Ensign in Capt. Davidson's Regimenmt of Continental Troops of NC. Wounded 6 Aug. 1780 in the attack on the British at Hanging Rock, a short distance from his home.
David was probably born in Hanover Co., VA, but records have been burned, thus this relationship has not been proved. His parents moved to SC.
1772 David was on the tax records of Surry Co., NC, on the headwaters of Pee Dee River. Surry had been formed in 1770 from Rowan Co., NC. It was joining that part of VA where David's brother William had purchased land in 1772.
David had a 200 acre land grant on the north Fork of the Pee Dee River, recorded 3 Apr 1780. 23 Aug 1783, he sold the land grant.
Census show that his son John lived in the same area.
1790 All the Crawfords had left Surry Co.
