Joseph was a substantial builder and farmer in Hingham, ME and had a houseful of children. -------------------- As stated in "Thomas Joy and His Descendants" by Thomas R. Joy published by James Richard Joy, Plainfield, NJ, July 4, 1900; compiled by James Richard Joy, New York: "His will, dated August 4, 1690, 'being bound upon a voyage at sea' mentions property received by gift ' from my late father, Thomas Joy.' Constable, carpenter and farmer. Lived on Bacheler (Main Street), Hingham, nearly opposite the meetinghouse. In the tax levy of 1680 for building this meetinghouse (of which he is thought to have been the builder) 'Joseph Joy promised 1pound 10shillings"
