In the 1906 book Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Berkshire County, Massachusetts, by Rollin Hillyer Cooke, Ephraim Kellogg is noted as "a son of Silas and Ruth (Root) Kellogg, and grandson of Stephen and Lydia (Belding) Kellogg, who lived in Westfield, Massachusetts. The father of Stephen was Lieutenant Joseph Kellogg, who died at Hadley, Massachusetts. about 1707, having removed to that place from Boston about 1662. He had previously lived a few years at Farmington, Connecticut. Ephraim Kellogg, grandfather of E. H. Kellogg, was a soldier of the Revolution, in service in the expedition against [British General] Burgoyne in 1777."

Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970 Record for Ephraim Kellogg

Kellogg, Ephraim, 1740- 20 Application #70183 1936 by Albert Blanchard Kellogg, [born April 11, 1887]

elsewhere, another source ( In "Official list of officers of officers' reserve corps" in U. S. Army register, Volumes 1-10, by United States. Adjutant-General's Office, U. S. Govt. Printing Office, Aug. 31, 1919, p. 33) says: "Kellogg, Albert Blanchard, capt. Sig. R. С NH [rank of captain in the Signal Section of the Reserve Corps, New Hampshire]," and also indicates he was born April 11, 1887, and resides [1920] at 18 Lodge Avenue, Manchester, New Hampshire.

Also about Albert Blanchard Kellogg, in the US Army Military Instructors Manual, 1917, by CAPTAIN JAMES P. COLE, 59th INFANTRY, Instructor 3rd Battalion, 17th Provisional Training Regiment,

Plattsburg, N.Y., and MAJOR OLIVER SCHOONMAKER, 76th DIVISION, Assistant Instructor 3rd Battalion, 17th Provisional Training Regiment, Plattsburg, N.Y., is the message on the first page: "we wish to thank the following candidates for the loan of materials used elsewhere, for typewriting and other work: ALBERT BLANCHARD KELLOGG [one of twelve men whose names are listed]"

A reference to an "Albert B. Kellogg" who MIGHT be Albert B. Kellogg is found in "Index of Marriages in St. Joseph County, 1832-1887," the record "A-282 H. E. VanVleck to Albert B. Kellogg" downloaded June 2011 from http://tfred.tripod.com/marrfv.html

There is a "Find A Grave Memorial" web page for Nora Emily Blanchard Kellogg (1853 - 1940) downloaded June 2011 from

www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=32639574

She was married to Henry Lyman Kellogg (1845 - 1894), whose parents were "Albert Benjamin and Harriet nee Loomis Kellogg, who were married in Canaan, Conn and came West soon afterward. In 1850 they located in Wethersfield, Henry County, Illinois, where for many years the father followed his trade of cooper." Nora's profile is private, and I haven't yet cracked that lock. Henry Lyman and Nora Blanchard Kellogg had a son "Albert B. [who] graduated from Wheaton College in June, 1899 and July 31 of that year sailed from Seattle for Japan, under contract to teach two years in that country, being now at Odawara and Atzugi."
