US Congressman. He graduated from Princeton College in 1790, studied law and became an attorney in Snow Hill in 1792. Wilson was active in the militia and attained the rank of Colonel. A Federalist in politics, he served in the Maryland House of Delegates in 1794, 1796 to 1798, 1800, 1802 to 1803, 1808 to 1815, 1817 to 1818, and 1820, and was Speaker in 1815. Wilson was a presidential elector in 1804. In 1826, now a Jacksonian, he was elected to the US House of Representatives and served two terms, 1827 to 1831. He did not run for reelection in 1830, and returned to his law practice. Wilson was the father of US Senator Ephraim King Wilson (1821-1891). He was also the father of William Sydney Wilson (1816-1862), who served in the Mississippi House of Representatives and the Confederate Congress, was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Confederate Army, and was killed at the battle of Sharpsburg
