About Paulina Frank (Wormser)

Founder and First President of the Hebrew Ladies Aid Society

Also served as president of Ladies Benevolent Society of Pittsburgh, and as a director of the Society for Support of Sick Soldiers and Soliders' Wives.

"Described as a broadminded and tolerant woman whose efforts in behalf of needy human beings have known neither creed nor color."

================

In most genealogies, Fanny is listed as being called "Pauline", but in the family bible, the name is shown as "Paulina", and she was called Fanny. It is possible that the spelling actually was with a terminal "e", but it is not likely. Her tombstone also shows a terminal "a". (Wendy Hoechstetter, 12/5/2012)
